The Technology Behind NeuOra's Slow-Dissolve Oral Delivery System
The Challenge: To develop a tiny oral hydrophilic matrix time-release tablet that adheres to the gumline, takes hours to dissolve and continuously releases and delivers an extended flavor and active agent profile.
Each tiny Neuora microtab (140 mg) is composed of thousands of microscopic honeycomb-like cells (hydro-philic matrix).
The cell nucleus contains a bio-active agent such as a vitamin, live probiotic culture, or a drug (up to 25mg), depending on use.
The nucleus is surrounded by an all natural, anti-bacterial/anti-cavity sweetener (Xylitol) and peppermint flavoring enhanced by a proprietary booster for long-lasting flavor dispersion.
The outer layer of the tab (hydrophilic matrix) is an all natural plant material (cellulose powder) that had been treated to be moisture resistant and is programmed to dissolve over a precise period of time (up to 8 hours) releasing the bio-active agents into the mouth and body.
Seconds after being moistened by saliva, the NeuOra tab adheres comfortably between the upper or lower rear gum and cheek. As each cell is slowly dissolved by saliva, the biologically active agents contained in the nucleus are continuously released in your mouth and body.
The cell dissolution, anti-bacterial sweetener, flavor and bio-active agent release action is an overlapping process that lasts until the microtab is fully dissolved— all the while imparting a cool, mildly aromatic and soothing sensation in the mouth for the full multi-hour duration of the NeuOra microtab.
